Activities in Athletics
Athletics has a vast collection of different sports consisting of other physical activities that require strength and power. There is not a lot of expensive equipment involved; more physical exertion is included in these activities. There are games either involving individual performance or collective group performances.
The sports in the athletic can be divided into different categories for better and comfortable understanding.
Types of events
- Track events
The first one could be the track events category. This event includes games that are usually related to running tracks of different distances. It then depends on the distance covered and the appropriate name given to the race. A particular age category is followed for these races. Some sprints are races over short distances. There are middle-distance, long-distance, relay races, and then hurdling as well. While short distance is from 800 to 1500 m, long-distance is from 3000 to 10000 m. Relay races are group sports, while the race with hurdles and obstacles in its way is the hurdling track event.
- Jump Events
The next category is the jump events. These are the sports when athletes sprint, followed by a jumping board or a sandpit. The different kinds of jumps in this are the Long Jump, Triple Jump, High jump, and the Pole Vault.
The Long Jump was part of the Olympics Games in the early 1900s. These jump events are highly competitive and are only a little different from the other one. All of them require the athletes to jump from a certain distance and then measured. Pole Vault is a bit different than the other jumps.
These games might sound easy, but the atheist who takes part in it work very hard and practice to be a part of the Olympics for a long time—their only goal; to win as many medals for their country as possible.
- Throw Events
The third category of the events can be the throw events, including Shot Put, Discus throw, Javelin Throw, and Hammer throw.
The main idea of the games is the same except for a slight difference between all of them. Hammer throw is about throwing a metal ball weighing. Different from men and women. After the athletes have run a distance to the foul line in javelin throw, they release the javelin. Discus throw includes throwing a heavy disc, while the shot put means that the athlete has to throw a shot from within a circular area.
